Richard’s Father’s Day Family Walk/Jog Donates $115,000 To Charity

TAMPA, Fla., June 24, 2019 – The Gonzmart Family Foundation will donate a minimum of $115,000 to charity as a result of Richard’s Father’s Day Family Walk and Jog.

With that amount, the six-year donation total hit $575,000, and this year’s event specifically earmarked a new brachytherapy suite at Moffitt. The new suite will treat patients in half the time, effectively doubling the number of patients. The therapy is used to treat prostate, cervical, breast and sarcoma cancers.

Started by Richard Gonzmart to benefit Moffitt Cancer Center’s efforts to research and treat prostate cancer, the event featured a one mile or 5K walk or jog along the Tampa Riverwalk, with post-race food provided by the Columbia, Goody Goody and Ulele.

The Father’s Day event on June 16 began and ended at Gonzmart’s restaurant, Ulele. About 500 came out to stroll and jog this family-fun event on the Tampa Riverwalk.

Next year’s event again is set for Father’s Day: June 21, 2020.

The Columbia Restaurant Group pays all expenses from the event and donates all revenue.
