Take Home a Taste of the Columbia Restaurant
|
TAMPA, Fla., -- For over a century, customers of the Columbia Restaurant have enjoyed savory Spanish/Cuban dishes that the Columbia made famous. Now, many of those favorites like the World-Famous "1905" SaladTM dressing, Sangria, Spanish olives and Spanish olive oil, 10-year-old balsamic vinegar from Rioja, Spain, Columbia Seasoning, Salsa Picante Sauce and freshly brewed Cuban coffee can all be purchased through our website, www.columbiarestaurant.com. in our Columbia gift shops, or by calling 813-247-2469.
Prices range from $2.95 to $12.95. All of these products are easy and ready-to-make, with the exception of the "1905" SaladTM dressing, which comes bottled and is ready to be enjoyed.
Columbia foods are also available in decorative gift baskets, which come in a wide range of prices. Gift baskets include the Columbia''s specialty foods as well as the restaurant''s private label wines, cigars, and hand-painted ceramics from Spain.
In addition to the Columbia foods, the retail shops have one of the largest selections of fine handmade cigars, including the Gonzmart family''s own brand, Gonzalez y Martinez. The name Gonzmart is a derivative of the names Gonzalez and Martinez.
Gonzalez y Martinez cigars are hand-rolled in Ybor City, in the Gonzalez y Martinez Cigar Company located next door to the original restaurant in Ybor City. "We decided to reintroduce the line as another way to carry on our family''s heritage," explained Gonzmart. "Our cigar factory will bring the focus back to Ybor City as the ''Cigar Capital of the World''," he commented.
The Columbia Restaurant was founded in 1905 by Casimiro Hernandez, Sr., and began as a small corner cafe. Today, it is the world''s largest Spanish restaurant and the oldest restaurant in Florida. Locations include Ybor City in Tampa, St. Armands Circle in Sarasota, the Historic District in St. Augustine, The Pier in St. Petersburg, Sand Key on Clearwater Beach, Central Florida''s town of Celebration, and the Columbia Café at the Tampa Bay History Center. All Columbia Restaurants are owned and operated by 4th and 5th generation members of the founding family.
